This week Amy has set us the challenge of putting outfit together inspired by Marie Antoinette (1996).

Marie Antoinette is not usually a sympathetic character from history and to be honest the “Let them eat cake” line used to be something I raged against because I am, and always have been left leaning politically. Plus I was at uni and stuff matters a lot more when you have to wake up every day by 1pm to go to classes, the beer is cheap and the books are free.

I loved this movie though, from the overly styled apparel that made the fashion world talk to the window into society directorial style of Sofia Coppola it was a delight to the senses. I empathized with Marie the teenager thrown into a situation beyond her scope to understand or to deal with effectively and genuinely felt for her, realising that no one has the perfect life even if they get to wear pretty dresses all day long.

So here is my take on fashion from a film that rather cleverly captivates and challenges us to think of history in a new way:

Now personally I’ve not seen Marie Antoinette but from my research I can tell you it’s a whole lot of lace, florals, pastels, volume, embellishments and gorgeous detail.

Here are two looks I’ve created which has been inspired by what I know.

This first set is definitely an evening creation with gorgeous floral dress, featuring a sweetheart neckline and a full skirt. A simple black heel, lace cuff and gold short chained necklace.

Morning All!

For today’s Fashion Inspired by the Movies I’ve decided on the Toy Story Series. I recently watched Toy Story 3 and fell in love all over again.

I adore family movies and Pixar has never let me down. So have a brilliant day and enjoy reminiscing the joys of your childhood or even adulthood 😉

I am so happy Cat chose ‘Toy Story’ today. It is such a vibrant and happy story that I adored as a child (who didn’t?). I don’t think i’ve cried so much in a movie when I saw the third and final instalment. Amazing. Anyway, I chose to re-create Woodys fun yet practical look for today. I used the main colours he wears (brown, yellow, red) and made sure I used plenty to get that ‘Wait, dont I know her from somewhere’. I highly recommend, for a fun affect, writing ‘ANDY’ on the bottom of your cowboy boots. People will get a smile!!! 😀

I picked Buzz Lightyear to focus on today because I am inspired by space every day but mostly because I think green and purple are a colour combo I would love to be more confident with so it was a challenge for me as well.

Fashion Inspired by Movies – The Avengers (2012) Pt 2.

Afternoon Everyone.

I just so happen to crawl out of bed just over an hour and a half ago, it’s now a little after 4:00pm. So much win!

Following on from Part 1 of this mornings Movie inspired fashion theme, I’ve created a single look of my own.

I chose Black Widow, I just knew I wanted to try and create a look based on her character. Badass.

I’ve kept most of the colours dark as Black Widow is wearing near all black with a hint of red, which is true to the markings of a real Black Widow Spider.

Dark boots, jeans, gorgeous leather jacket and a single piece of clothing in red. I would class this as semi-casual, with a hint of attitude & sexiness.
