Yay! I love this part. It’s Wednesday’s Movie Inspired Look post!

Today I’ve chosen Snow White and I’m talking the Disney one here, not the remakes of it.

CAITLYN

Sadly our lovely Amy has been rather ill the last few days and won’t be joining us today, hope you get better soon Amy!

I’ve gone with the less known outfit for Snow White.

She is already rocking that Peter Pan Collar so I wouldn’t change that at all and to me the colours have a vintage feel. So I’ve added in the Mary Jane shoes :D!

With all the remakes of Snow White out at the moment we are in danger of being overwhelmed with images of how this princess should look like, in my mind the Disney original is by far the most iconic and will remain so, the look is completely unique amongst the Disney princesses. For my set instead of trying to recreate an outfit for a princess I tried to imagine who the real Snow White is and put something together that represents those qualities for me.

Snow White is:

  • Feminine
  • A Nature/ Animal Lover
  • A girl who likes people in all shapes and sizes
  • Not afraid of hard work
  • A team worker (lol maybe I have been writing too many cover letters)
  • A survivor

I wanted my outfit to show her softer side and to represent the little bit of whimsy that her character contains. She needed a look that echoed the classic colours and the colour blocking of her original gown without going too far.

This is what I came up with:

It’s perhaps not so much a gritty reboot as a modern re-imagining…. either way it has nothing to do with that chick from Twilight.

Hey All!

We’re slowly incorporating fun and different things to the blog and this week we are introducing ‘1 Item – 3 Ways’. This is to show you all a few things!

One: That a particular item isnt reserved for someone with one style.

Two: To show you how different (and sometimes how similar) Bec, Cait and Myself are.

Three: its fun to mix and match different styles.

This week we have gone for the ‘Pixie Collar’, a delicate collar that can be included on a shirt, bought separately and added to items or even come in the form of jewellery.

AMY

Personally, I wasn’t a fan of the ‘pixie collar’. I put it in the ‘way too girly’ pile but then I thought about it and had a bit of a play on Polyvore and came up with a look that I deemed cool enough for someone like myself, not in any way super girly, to wear.

I’ve added some ‘harsh’ contrasts with studs and leather and while they make this out fit very ‘rock star’ the collar ensures that it is still a feminine look for a young woman to wear!

So, what do you think? Is the pixie collar something you would consider adding to your wardrobe or will you leave this one?

Pixie Collars are not something that I would personally choose to wear because I look a lot better in an open round collar or V neck so this was very challenging for me.

So I have tried to find looks that I like rather than looks that I would wear and here are three looks that I think would be a lot of fun.

I like the idea of using colour contrast to make more of an impact with the collar feature.

Good Afternoon!

I adore Pixie Collars, also known as Peter Pan Collars, I even did a previous post on them which you can see here!

I love these types of collars on dress in particular, so here are three different looks which incorporate the Peter Pan Collars on dress.

We have a more dressy look, semi-casual and a casual look.

I’m loving the casual daytime look! Definitely my favourite.

I’m well behind the posting schedule here and wasn’t going to post at all, but I can’t help myself. I really love blogging and sharing my ideas.

I’ve been on the fence while about but I’ve finally decided I do like Peter Pan Collars.

A flat, round-cornered collar, named after the collar of the costume worn in 1905 by actress Maude Adams in her role as Peter Pan and particularly associated with little girls’ dresses.

They have a very sweet element about them which I think stems from their use in dresses for young girls. I often see gorgeous smocked dresses with Peter Pan collars.

There isn’t much variation these days with the collar itself but definitely the rest of the garments have a wide range of styles to choose from.

It can be simple, sweet and casual or go well beyond that into the realms of sexy with a sheer top like below.

I’m sure the Peter Pan collar will still be around for many years to come, and I quite like the idea of that 😉

Are Peter Pan collars for you?
