Styling a LBD 3 Ways: Cocktail Wedding

I love a good cocktail event. A time to rock above the knee skirts but still keeping it demure and lady like; An opportunity to display some outrageous jewellery like large rings and long pearls without being out of place. Love it. Today the challenge was given to each style a LBD in a different way, I was luckily awarded with the Cocktail Wedding.

This dress has already got a stunning neckline so necklaces are unnecessary (as much as I love them it would overwhelm this frock a tad too much for a cocktail event). I decided to accessorize with a stunning blues and blacks. When styling a little black dress, choose one other colour so that it doesn’t get too mix&match. The black cocktail ring and earrings ensure that the beautiful neckline detail isn’t ignored however the blue adds that extra pop that is needed.

Make sure, when styling for any cocktail event, you go big on rings. The bigger and more detailed the better I say!!!

‘Ladies, help! I’m going to a wedding in April that goes from day to evening so it could be both hot and cold but it is indoors so that shouldn’t matter too much. There will be dancing so I have to be able to move. Here’s the thing, I have no money and need to pull something amazing out (and hair ideas and makeup ideas). What can you do for me?’

Thanks for writing into us. Bec and Cat seem to have covered the bases of thrift shops and swapping clothes so I’m going to save you some reading and not repeat what they have already said.

I am going to take a more ‘build on what you’ve got’ approach and help you out with some cheap fixes from first hand stores (although, I definitely think you should go second hand for your handbag!)

Borrow

Don’t be afraid to ask friends if you can borrow a dress or accessories for the day. It’s going to save you a lot of money! I have on occasion purchased something for a specific event which I haven’t ever worn again.. It leads me to either sell it or have it disappear into my cupboard and not see the light of day for months, or even years! EEEKKKK!

Knowing a little of your background and some of the activities you part take in, DANCING, I’m hoping some of your friends have something you could potentially borrow. Being friends I’m sure they would see the situation you are in and be more then willing to help you out.
